How is Brown Basmati Rice made? There is only one Basmati harvest a year and the plant requires specific weather conditions to mature and flourish. Keeping the bran intact and removing only the hull (the outermost layer of grain) is what classes the rice as brown rice.

For best results soak for 30 minutes prior to cooking. Heat rice in a heavy based saucepan with a little coconut oil in medium for 2-3 minutes. Mix all the grains of rice to coat in oil. Add 1 cup of boiling water per ½ cup of rice and bring to a fast boil for 5 minutes. Cover and turn down to a gentle simmer for a further 20 minutes. Leave stand for 10 mins. Serve while hot.
